Son of Roxie, Although this essay is applicable to everyone, the celebrities in my examples are Black men. In thinking about someone whose art suffered only temporarily Collins was the first person I thought of, and I felt it necessary to note the racial difference. We live in America. Mainstream society does not forgive men of color as quickly as they do their own. I am just as fatigued as the next person when race is involved with seemingly simple or unrelated matters, but in America, there is little when it comes to social perceptions or punishment that race does not touch.
